Looking for work in the Canary Islands?

Ubuntu Canarias · 4 min read

Ubuntu Canarias infographic (in Spanish) showing the steps to look for work through the Canary Employment Service: register as a jobseeker, get and renew the DARDE, download the SCE mobile app, search for offers and apply.

The Canary Employment Service (Servicio Canario de Empleo, SCE) publishes job offers in the Canary Islands every day. You can check them on its website or in the SCE mobile app (App Móvil SCE).

To use the SCE's services and apply for its job offers, you first need to register as a jobseeker (demandante de empleo) and keep your registration active.

How do you register with the SCE?

If you have a digital certificate or Cl@ve

  1. Go to the Canary Employment Service website.
  2. Look for "Demanda de empleo" (job seeking).
  3. Open "Autogestión rápida: Inscripción y modificación de la demanda".
  4. Identify yourself with your digital certificate or Cl@ve.
  5. Fill in the details requested and complete your registration as a jobseeker.
  6. When you finish, your registration will be active and you will be able to see your DARDE.

Registering online is just as valid as registering at an office.

If you don't have a digital certificate or Cl@ve

You can book an appointment (cita previa) with the SCE:

  • Online, on the SCE website.
  • In the SCE mobile app.
  • By phone: 012, 922 470 012 or 928 301 012.

When booking, choose the procedure "Demanda de empleo → Inscripción y otros trámites".

Foreign nationals with an NIE: the SCE states that they must book an appointment to register. Depending on their situation, they may need to bring their NIE and documents proving their administrative status.

How do I get the DARDE?

The DARDE (Documento de Alta y Renovación de la Demanda de Empleo) is the document that records your registration and its renewals. You don't need to request it separately.

When you register as a jobseeker, the SCE issues the documents for your registration. After that, every time you renew, a new DARDE is generated. You can also get a copy through the SCE's online services.

Keep your DARDE, because it shows the date on which you must renew your registration.

How do I renew it?

You don't need to go to an office. You can renew through:

  • The SCE mobile app.
  • The SCE online office (sede electrónica).
  • By phone: 012, 922 470 012 or 928 301 012.

You can renew up to two working days before, on the day itself, or up to two working days after the date shown on your DARDE.

If you miss that window, your registration may be cancelled for not renewing.

How do I search for offers in the app?

  1. Go to "Empleo".
  2. Tap "Buscador de empleo" (job search).
  3. Type the job you are looking for. For example: cleaner, administrative assistant, waiter/waitress, educator…
  4. Use the filters available.
  5. Open the offers that interest you.
  6. Read the requirements, duties, location, hours and conditions carefully.
  7. If you meet the requirements, follow the instructions to apply for the offer.

Job offers are updated every day.

Keep your details up to date

Make sure your phone number, email, education, work experience, licences and qualifications, and job preferences are up to date with the SCE. This information can matter when the SCE checks whether you meet the requirements for certain offers.

To use the SCE's services, including job offers, you also need to have signed the Activity Agreement (Acuerdo de Actividad).

SCE phone numbers

012 · 922 470 012 · 928 301 012
Phone service hours: 08:00 to 20:00.

The SCE and the SEPE are not the same

  • Canary Employment Service (SCE): jobseeker registration, job offers, guidance and training in the Canary Islands.
  • SEPE: unemployment benefits and allowances at national level.
