Transparency and good governance
Last updated: July 2026
Ubuntu Canarias is a non-profit association, and we believe the trust of the people we support, our members and the organisations we work with is built by being clear about who we are, how we're organised and how we manage the resources entrusted to us. This page brings together that institutional information.

4. Funding and resources
Ubuntu Canarias is funded mainly through membership fees, as well as donations, one-off collaborations and, where applicable, public or private grants for specific reception and integration projects. The association's financial year coincides with the calendar year, starting from the date of the founding deed and ending on 31 December each year.
All the resources we receive go entirely towards sustaining our lines of work:
- Legal and administrative procedural guidance
- Socio-labour insertion and training
- Promoting interculturality
- Psychosocial support for migrants in the Canary Islands
5. Good governance and transparency principles
In compliance with Law 12/2014 of 26 December on transparency and access to public information of the Canary Islands, we are guided by the following principles:
- Non-profit: the association's resources go exclusively towards its social purposes, with no direct or indirect distribution of profits among its members.
- Accountability: financial management and the activity report are presented and put to approval annually at the General Assembly.
- Participation: the entity's strategic decisions are taken democratically at the General Assembly, where every member has a voice and a vote.
- Independence: Ubuntu Canarias acts with full operational autonomy, independent of partisan or commercial interests unrelated to its social mission.
6. Activity report and annual accounts
As Ubuntu Canarias is a recently established entity (July 2026), the first Activity Report and Annual Accounts for this initial financial year will be published in this same section once approved by the General Assembly after the calendar year closes.
In the current financial year, the entity has not received or managed any public grants.
7. Requesting public information
In guarantee of the right of access to public information, anyone interested can request additional information about Ubuntu Canarias's organisation, regulations, activities or management by writing to info@ubuntucanarias.org.
We will handle all requests as promptly and transparently as possible within our capacities as an entity.
8. Networks, Partnerships and Continuing Training
At Ubuntu Canarias we are committed to networking and institutional cooperation to provide the best support to people in the process of human mobility.
- COMPASS Collaboration Network: We are official members of the Collaboration Network of the Observatory on Human Mobility between the Canary Islands and Africa (COMPASS Project), co-financed by the Interreg MAC 2021-2027 Cooperation Programme and led by Casa África in partnership with institutions such as the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC).
- Technical Participation: Our team actively takes part in technical seminars and specialised working spaces on the New European Pact on Migration and Asylum and the dynamics of the Canary Islands–Gambia–Mauritania–Senegal corridor.
