A further step toward humane, coordinated and sustainable management of mobility between West Africa and the Canary Islands.
We are pleased to announce that Ubuntu Canarias has been officially admitted as a collaborating entity of the COMPASS Collaboration Network, an initiative that brings together institutions, social organisations, universities, businesses and other actors committed to improving the management of human mobility between West Africa and the Canary Islands.
Our membership has been approved as part of the COMPASS project – Observatory of Human Mobility between the Canary Islands and Africa, co-financed by the Interreg MAC 2021-2027 Territorial Cooperation Programme.
The COMPASS project aims to promote innovative and sustainable solutions to address the challenges of human mobility across the cooperation area formed by the Canary Islands, Gambia, Mauritania and Senegal, encouraging joint work among the different actors involved.
Its main lines of action include:
- Promoting international cooperation between public and private entities.
- Identifying good practices and needs in the management of human mobility.
- Fostering the exchange of knowledge and experience.
- Designing strategies that help protect the lives of migrants and strengthen host communities.
For Ubuntu Canarias, being part of this network is significant recognition of our commitment to reception, inclusion and social integration. It will also allow us to work with other organisations to develop initiatives that promote a fairer, more supportive and more inclusive society.
We continue working to build bridges between people, cultures and institutions, convinced that cooperation is an essential tool for addressing today's and tomorrow's social challenges.
Thank you to everyone who trusts in our work. This is only the beginning of a path full of new alliances and opportunities to make a positive impact in the Canary Islands.
